Flarry Eye Grey Gamefowl for Sale

Flarry Eye Greys are stunning game fowls that originated in Ireland and were likely brought to the United States in the late 1800s. The term “Flarry” is derived from the Irish word for “fiery,” which refers to the breed’s distinctive bright red eye color.

Appearance and Behavior

In addition to their striking red eyes, Flarry Eye Greys feature a unique feather crest on their heads, an unusual characteristic for game fowl. Roosters are medium-sized, typically weighing between five and six pounds, while hens weigh around four pounds and have a deep red breast that beautifully contrasts with the intricate grey patterns of their feathers. Remarkably, hens lay a good number of eggs for a game fowl, producing around 160 medium-sized white eggs annually. They can be quite broody, and some hens in our flock are very protective of their eggs, so be prepared for them to peck at your hands while you collect them.

These birds are extremely active and alert, with roosters often sounding the alarm when danger is near, prompting a swift retreat to safety. They are strong fliers, so don’t be surprised if you find them trying to roost in trees. Flarry Eye Greys thrive in environments with ample space to roam; a coop with a large run or a free-range setup is ideal for this breed. We recommend a large run, as they may not always return to the coop when it’s time to roost if they are allowed to free-range.
