White Kelso Gamefowl for Sale
White Kelso Gamefowl display several distinctive characteristics, including yellow feathers, white or yellow legs, square or round heads, and turkey crests. These birds are renowned as “to the death” fighting cocks, making them valuable additions to any fighting team or crew—you won’t regret owning one.
Historically, cockfighting began as both a religious and political institution in Athens, aimed at instilling valor in the youth. Over time, it evolved into a popular pastime throughout Greece, moving away from its original political and religious motives.
Distribution of Cockfights
In various regional adaptations, these birds are often fitted with fighting gear. This gear includes metal spurs (known as gaffs) or knives attached to their legs, where the bird’s natural spur has been partially removed. A cockspur typically consists of a leather bracelet with a curved, sharp spike affixed to the bird’s leg. The length of these spikes can vary, with “short spurs” measuring just over an inch and “long spurs” reaching nearly two and a half inches. In the 17th century, some of the highest levels of English cockfighting used silver spikes. However, it is important to note that these sharp spurs can pose risks, potentially injuring or even killing the handlers of the birds.
